My partner and i stayed at the spread eagle inn for 2 nights. Our family room was spacious and very comfortable, especially the bed! The coffee machine was a good surprise, but we did have to buy extra pods after the few left. It's also right next to stourhead.

The breakfast offered a good choice of good meals. The double room was comfy where our table awaited. Location: the hotel was very close to the gardens and house at Stourhead, and the Spread Eagle.

The atmosphere was fantastic, with an open fire in the bar and a really comfortable, spacious room that felt mad really like it was a home away from home.

The location couldn't be more convenient for exploring nearby gardens, only 50 meters down the road. The layout of the facilities gives a traditional charm, ideal for those looking for a quaint base during their visit.
Breakfast options came with minimal choices and the warm food situation left more to be desired. Our unit had plumbing issues, taking ages to get even a dribble of hot water, not ideal after a long day. Creaky floorboards kept reminding us we weren't alone, with sounds from neighboring rooms echoing throughout the night. Access can be a challenge, particularly when the entrance is flooded and requires some athleticism to navigate. The lack of staff presence after hours can feel unsettling used to more attentive service.

Recommend for a whistle-stop
Lovely staff, lovely breakfast, who were very great, with Harmony being particularly cute and helpful , while enjoying a comfy and cozy family room that overlooked the picturesque courtyard, making our visit nice.
No room for improvement.

The rooms were super clean, comfy, and had a nice character. The staff was friendly and. Breakfast was decent too, especially the full english! The location was perfect since we wanted to explore stourhead's gardens.
One major thing was the loud cistern in the bathroom and some room maintenance issues. We were frustrated with the service when we had to settle our bill at the bar and it took a bit long.

Location is a win!
Some staff were super nice, especially the cleaning lady, but one guy was kind of rude. The bathrooms really need updating, and the food was hit or miss. The breakfast was tasty, though! Overall a mixed experience.

We enjoyed cycling nearby and explored the beautiful gardens right next door. The staff were super friendly. Just a heads up, the wifi can be a bit spotty. It was a relaxing stay, and I highly recommend it for a group getaway!
One downside was the lack of variety in the breakfast options. A few more choices would have been nice.

The charm of the Spread Eagle Inn was palpable. Clean, comfortable room with lovely decor welcomed me. Staff greeted me with genuine warmth. The reserved parking was a practical benefit amidst the busy surroundings. Enjoyed a plentiful breakfast each morning that hit the spot, although I wished there were more options like yogurt and berries instead of just syrup on my pancakes. The location is fantastic for exploring Stourhead gardens, with easy access for strolling around the estate, especially with the benefit of out-of-hours garden entry. The experience took a hit with some service inconsistencies. My room didn't get cleaned daily unless I asked for it. I also had to remind staff for new tea supplies and breakfast items like brown sauce not being available on one occasion. The mobile phone reception was poor, a mixed bag-great for peace but not ideal for emergencies. Despite those hiccups, the cute nature of the staff was good. I'd return for the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful setting, but I hope they can address the service issues.
